My birthday is this week (whoop!) and The Photographer (AKA my amazing boyfriend Justin) is taking me on a surprise birthday adventure for a few days. I am ridiculously excited and so ready to get away for a little bit. I hope you have a great week and do something fun that makes you happy. In the meantime here’s a few photos of what I’ve been up to (well, mostly jewelry-making and blackberry, coconut whip cream pancake-eating;)
Recently we went to a friend’s potluck/going away party. It was a lovely evening full of friends, good food, and lots of little rugrats running around. It was a good reminder of how much I need/want community in my life (a topic I’ve been thinking about a bit lately) and of how easy it is to hole up in our little space and just work all the time. I brought my camera with me (always) and shot a few photos that I liked, so I thought I’d share. Hope you had a great weekend too!
We went out this afternoon between rain showers looking for mushrooms. While we only found a handful of fungi, the forest was beautiful, dripping with rain and streaming light, everything a deep glowing green. I love trying to catch all of the small moments of beauty that are awaiting us in the world, if only we take the time to look. Here are a few photos attempting to do just that. Enjoy!
Today I am having one of those days where I don’t feel like doing anything. I want to cuddle up on the couch with a hot cup of tea and a book or movie. Take a nap. Maybe have pancakes for dinner. These days I seem to always be going a mile a minute with various plans, social events, projects and work. So, today I have decided to embrace this feeling and just enjoy a nice quiet afternoon. In the meantime, here are some photos from the last few days. Enjoy!
I recently had the chance to shoot some photos with my dear friend and model, the lovely miss Maya. This has quickly become one of my favorite parts of my job. Finding new, fun ways to portray my creations is challenging and inspiring. The jewelry featured is available for purchase in my Etsy Shop Roots & Wings Jewelry. Enjoy!
I returned from Virginia feeling grateful and refreshed. The trip was lovely, full of old friends and new, Southern charm, a farmers market, and a gorgeous, intimate wedding bursting at the seams with love. To quote my dear friend Addie on weddings: “I love love.” And it’s so true! It’s such an honor to be a part of someones wedding, one of the ultimate symbols of love in our culture. It makes me feel hopeful, inspired, and generally all warm and fuzzy inside.
I am heading to Charlottesville, VA this weekend to attend my dear friend Frances’ wedding (check out her awesome yoga blog!). I am so excited to be going on a trip, and I look forward to visiting a new place, reuniting with old friends, and being a part of what I am sure will be a love-filled, beautiful union.
Look for photos and stories when I return.
Until then, have a great weekend!
Recently I began to feel like all of my tools, beads and supplies were slowly closing in on me at my tiny desk. So, in honor of being fully self-employed, I had my amazingly talented and kind father create a bigger, better, more efficient space for me to work at, and I am SO ecstatic about the results!
Frequently we’ll be sitting around, say having dinner (because, yes, our kitchen, living room, and work space are all in the same room), and I’ll look over at my new desk and just start geeking out about how much “I LOVE MY NEW DESK!!”
No, seriously though, having a space that is not only efficient but also beautiful makes me really happy. And, to top it all off, it’s right next to the woodstove! I can hardly wait to cozy up with a cup of tea on winter mornings and create.
